Slow-dissolving bromine in 20-g tablets for disinfection of swimming pool and spa water.
Absence of chlorine odour, high tolerance to pH variations.
Product of great disinfection power and highly oxidate.
Properties
Appearance: Solid in 20 g tablets.
Colour: White.
pH (saturated solution): 4.6.
Solubility (25ºC): 0.15 g/100cc of water.
Useful bromine content: 61%.
Composition: 1-Bromo-3-Chloro-5,5-Dimethylhydantoin.
Characteristic
- Effective disinfectant against bacteria, algae and fungi, its disinfectant power does not depend on a pH between 7 and 8.
- High disinfectant power, which allows to destroy all the organic matter present in the water.
- The combination of bromine with organic amines results in compounds called bromamines (NHBr2) which, unlike chloramines (combination of chlorine with organic amines), do not reduce the disinfectant efficacy of bromine.
- Bromamines do not cause eye irritation or unpleasant odours.
- Its dosage is carried out through a tablet dispenser, thus providing the correct level of disinfectant, thus protecting bathers and avoiding excessive consumption of the product.
- For shock treatment, it is recommended to use Oximines, this treatment consists of a shock product without chlorine, specially formulated for use in pools or spas treated with bromine.
Reaction of bromine in tablets with water
1. Bromine tablets + Water = DMH + Hypochlorous Acid + Hypobromous Acid
When bromine tablets are dissolved in water, hyperchlorous acid (active chlorine) and hypobromous acid (active bromine) are formed.
2. Hyperbromous acid reacts with hyperchlorous acid forming in turn bromide ion.
3. This bromide ion reacts with hyperchlorous acid to again form hypobromous acid.

In this way, the disinfectant resulting from the reaction of Bromine Tablets with water is hypobromous acid. Hypochlorous acid acts as a regeneration agent for bromine.
Dosage and instructions for use
When the pH of your pool is adjusted between 7.2 and 7.6, fill the tablet dispenser with bromine tablets, then adjust the dispenser to obtain the desired level of Residential Bromine.
The recommended Residential Bromine values vary depending on the type of pools, they are as follows:
- Private Pools 1.0 - 3.0 ppm.
- Private Spas 2.0 - 4.0 ppm.
- Public Pools 3.0 - 5.0 ppm.
- Public Spas 4.0 - 6.0 ppm.
You can easily measure this value with a bromine and pH analyzer kit.
